Altera Corporation was a prominent semiconductor company known for its programmable logic devices (PLDs) and related technologies. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in San Jose, California, Altera was a leading provider of FPGAs (Field-Programmable Gate Arrays), CPLDs (Complex Programmable Logic Devices), and associated software tools. In 2015, Altera was acquired by Intel Corporation, and it now operates as part of Intel's Programmable Solutions Group.
